L’Endeví was born in Valencia, Spain, as a personal project set up by Mamen (vocals) and
Jaume (guitar), with three other musicians who were good friends of theirs, Mario (drums), Pater
(guitar) and Guillermo (bass), and they recorded their initial demo in September 2007. Satisfied
with the first results, and thanks to their combined musical experience in other groups, these five
friends were encouraged to start up a totally new and original project.
They presented the band at music clubs and local pubs and achieved a good level of interest
from the public, and then keyboardist and arranger Ginés Gil joined the group. This was how
the special sound of L’Endeví was born, based on a diversity of influences from its separate
members fused together under the colossal voice of Mamen, with her dramatic and melodic
hues, creating a style of their own within the metal music scene.
After ironing out the kinks in the group, they started preparing their first album ‘When I Desire
Something, You Can’t Do Anything’, with 11 songs that tell the story of a trip around a dream
world full of danger and deceit. The album was recorded and mastered by Fernando Asensi, a
prestigious producer (Opera Magna, Dragonfly, Zarpa, Niobeth…) with whom they had already
recorded their first demo. The artwork was by Miriam Castellano and Vicente Ramírez, a well-
known photographer on the music scene.
With the ups and downs of the metal industry and the sudden departure of Ginés, the record
was finally self-edited and started to pull in good sales, not just on the national level, but also
in countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, the US, Japan, France and Canada. This
debut album helped them to get straight into the music scene and receive good write-ups from
international critics on websites and in specialised magazines, with interviews in legendary
publications like This is Rock and Heavy Rock that started fuelling their renown.
This newfound recognition enabled them to present When I Desire Something… in major cities
in Spain. L’Endeví gave ample proof of their energy-packed live performances, maintaining
the essential magic to be found in their music, sharing stages with international groups
such as Kells (France) and Regardless of Me (Italy). A few of the tracks from the album are
included in a variety of compilations such as Des Filles et Des Riffes (Epica, Kells and Eths…)
and Hall of Metal Vol.1 (Angelus Apatrida, The Eyes, Noctem…) culminating in the band’s
participation in the Metal Femme festivals (Barcelona and Valencia) and at Beautiful Voices,
among others.During the tour, the band took advantage of the time to shoot their first videoclip
directed by Simón Fariza. The song they chose was Samsara, which reflects the decisive role of
good fortune in L’Endeví’s personal universe.
Encouraged by their first success, L’Endeví started focusing on preparing their second CD, An
Eternity, with eleven songs forging a road to a time without end. Inspired by their will to create a
more personal kind of sound, Jaume and Pater set up their own recording studio, L’Amagatall
Estudis, where they began laying down tracks and mixing the new project, calling in Ginés Gil
again on keyboards, who has always shared in the band’s Zeitgeist. This album was mastered
by Fernando Asensi again. At the end of 2011 L’Endeví signed with ART GATES RECORDS,
who promoted their album in Europe, the US and Asia. An Eternity finally saw the light of day in
March 2012. This time, the album cover was by Nanome Lab and the band entrusted the design
and photos once again to Miriam Castellano and Vicente Ramírez.Conscious of the power of
their live performances, the band drew up meticulous plans for the Eternity Tour 2012, opening
with a performance at the Metalhead Fiesta by Pilar Rubio in Valencia, and progressing with a
series of gigs on the national calendar, including an unforgettable concert in Paris, where the
band got lots of applause from the French public.
For this second album, L’Endeví recorded two videoclips, An Eternity** and Red Ivy**,
both directed by Simón Fariza, who then decided that An Eternity should become part of his
soundtrack for the film Renegados de la Luz. To record Red Ivy, the band enjoyed the special
participation of Beleth, the singer from Noctem, who had already put his vocals on the second
track of the album.
After finishing the tour, Guillermo left the band for personal reasons, and a new bassist, Jorge
Ortiz-Villajos, joined them, having already stood in for Guillermo on former occasions.
As a result of their hard work over the past years, the band was highly rewarded by being invited
to participate at the Festival Costa de Fuego in Benicassim, where they shared the stage with
top groups such as In Flames, Paradise Lost, Marilyn Manson, Guns N’ Roses, Opeth,
Lacuna Coil and others. Despite their simple stage setup and lack of technical resources,
L’Endeví was unveiled as one of the big surprises at the festival and obtained magnificent
reviews from critics and lots of support from the public.
In March 2013, L'Endeví plays with a great turnout in the stage of the We Rock in Madrid as part
of FeMetal Fest, sponsored by Metalhead by Pilar Rubio, a festival to support women in music,
social and workplace.
In 2013 Europe knock hard at the doors of the band, now their presence is required at the Metal
Female Voices Fest in Belgium to be held in October, another great opportunity to cross
borders and amaze an audience that demands the best.
